UV Light Safety Training
Any organisation using UV light equipment, where there is a reasonable risk of personal exposure, is legally obligated to provide detailed information and proper training to all employees. This ensures that workers are fully aware of the potential hazards associated with UV light, understand the necessary safety protocols, and are equipped to operate the equipment responsibly. By adhering to these regulations, organisations can significantly reduce the risk of harm, promote a safer work environment, and ensure compliance with health and safety laws.
UV Safety in the Workplace webinar
This interactive webinar runs through the key considerations for assessment and control of UV light exposure at work in accordance with statutory regulations. By the end of it you should know what actions need to be taken by your organisation to ensure safe use and compliance with your legal obligations.
Most accidents or ill health from workplace exposure to UV light can be traced back to inadequate or incorrect information provided by suppliers of UV light sources and/or unsuitable or insufficient training for workers.
It is essential that workers exposed to UV light do not exceed Statutory Exposure Limits to prevent acute effects, such as erythema and photo keratoconjunctivitis, and are provided with specific information and training.
In addition, exposure should be reduced as low as reasonably practicable to minimise any contribution to cumulative lifelong exposure, which is linked to chronic adverse health effects, such as skin cancer, ocular melanoma and cataracts.
