UV dose calculator

The following tool can be used for calculating the total UV-C dose (J/m2)where the UV-C irradiance level (W/m2) and exposure time (seconds) is known. This value can be used to determine what microorganisms you would expect to kill using independent research data.

UV light meters can be used to measure the UV irradiance levels at a particular distance from the UV light source, or UV dosage meters can be used which take into account the UV irradiance and exposure time to provide you with a calculated dose level.

This should only be used for process monitoring and not for calculating personal UV light exposure levels. If you are looking to learn more about personal UV light exposure from artificial UV light sources please visit our UV safety page.
